Last month I have been able to attend the creative event celebrating the Art School of Stockport College. You can read more about this night right here 🔼.  At the end of the evening, we had the opportunity to take part in portfolio reviews meetings.  I had the chance to talk about my work with Chris Madden 🔼 , a Salford-based illustrator. Our talk started with a few questions that I wanted to ask him in regards to being a full-time illustrator but at the same time working from home while taking care of a family. Majority of freelancers work from home studios, where a family is a constant presence.  Last Tuesday I had the opportunity of taking part in the exciting event, the 3rd Alumni Night of Stockport Art School. It included talks, advice, drinks and celebration for Stockport Art school students and alumni. The event was attended by graduates from the BA (Honours) and HND design programmes from years gone by with current creative students and invited for the occassion associates.   Stockport College has produced a number of art & design graduates. The ALUMNIGHT evening is a night of celebration and pride.  The night programme of Pecha Kucha presentations and informal talks covers the variety of work and practices from a range of alumni, who come from different design backgrounds. Recently I have had the opportunity to meet up with a friend from uni. After an hour of walking around Manchester, she took me to the Nexus Art Cafe in Manchester. Link to the website right here . I have to say that this is an amazing place. Good setting, a garden, loads of comfy chairs, good nibbles and warmth throughout the cafe. If not for the conversation that I had with her while drawing, I would have surely fallen asleep, it was that nice in there. :P

A few weeks ago, we were able to attend a portfolio review meeting at The Chase, a creative studio consultants based in Manchester. You can read more about them here.  I had the opportunity to talk to Reece Hacking, who is a Junior Designer at The Chase. Presenting him with my portfolio in a form of a booklet, he proceeded to ask me questions about certain pieces of work and where did they stem from.  For example, my cover is a part of a larger image, designed for the Hiii Contest, organized in Japan, but open to designers around the world.  He also asked about the logo at the front, which comes from my interest in Harry Potter, Latin and Sir Edgar Allan Poe's poem The Raven .  The name or the nickname Corvus is a Latin translation of raven, crow. Therefore I thought it's fitting that my logo represents a raven and the word Corvus.  It was a successful meeting and I hope to have the opportunity for more such occasio...

Due to the competitive field of creative industry, every artist, designer, illustrator must be able to sustain themselves in these times, meaning that for some, they have to be able to improve on their knowledge, skills and contacts. Here is my action plan for the next 6 months. It includes what I want to improve on and focus my efforts on.
